Haikou Customs released statistical data on the 28th showing that in the first four months of this year, Hainan exported 1.12 billion yuan (RMB, the same below) worth of aquatic products, an increase of 7% compared with the same period last year. Among them, exports to markets such as the European Union, Japan, Canada, and the United Kingdom increased by 56.2%, 7.4%, 75.9%, and 90.6% year on year respectively.

Tilapia fillets and tilapia whole round are the main varieties of Hainan's aquatic product exports. From January to April this year, the tilapia export value was 990 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.4%, accounting for 88.4% of the province's total aquatic product export value. To help Hainan's tilapia products "swim smoothly overseas", Haikou Customs has introduced a series of customs clearance convenience measures such as priority document review, priority inspection, and priority certification, creating a "green channel" for tilapia product exports, which has significantly reduced the time and economic costs for enterprises and achieved "zero delay" in the whole process of tilapia customs clearance.

Local big tilapia producer mainly exports frozen tilapia fillets and gutted&scaled tilapia. Affected by the international situation, the original main export markets are highly competitive and the number of tilapia orders is limited too. Since the beginning of this year, they have increased their efforts to explore new markets of tilapia, especially major tilapia-consuming countries such as Canada.

From January to April this year, in addition to tilapia and its products, exports of aquatic products such as Hainan's prawns, frozen golden pomfret, frozen vannamei shrimp, frozen mackerel, and fresh/cold yellow croaker also achieved growth. Xu Cuiyun, Deputy Section Chief of the Comprehensive Business Section of Haikou Port Customs under Haikou Customs, said that the customs helps enterprises reduce costs, enhance the international competitiveness of products, and strengthen enterprises' confidence and motivation to expand international markets.

Haikou Customs stated that in the next step, it will continue to optimize regulatory services, accurately grasp the export trend of tilapia products, strengthen policy interpretation and early warning services, and support Hainan's characteristic tilapia to steadily enter the international market.
